Objectives extracted from the Constitution:

To hold in trust for the benefit of the people of the Ashburton District, both present and future, all cultural and historical property under the control and custody of the Society.

To promote a sense of history and awareness of the Museum collection, the importance of the nation’s heritage, with particular reference to the Ashburton District.

To inform and educate the public about the objectives of the Society.

To encourage new opportunities and innovative ways of presenting Ashburton District history to the public.
